The Auckland Clinical Training Centre (ACTC) opened in May 2005 at Level 4, 1 42 Broadway, Newmarket, Auckland. This state-of-the-art facility has been specifically designed to allow intensive hands on and clinically based dental education. The ACTC provides continuing education courses with an emphasis on teaching clinical techniques and skills necessary to remain proficient in clinical practice.
Courses held at the ACTC are eligible for CE credits with NZDA. The ACTC aims to give dentists, hygienist, auxiliaries and dental specialists a wide choice of educational opportunities including a range of course formats such as lectures, workshops, hands-on demonstrations, live-patient demonstrations with an emphasis on smaller more intimate groups to maximise interaction and your overall educational experience.
The facility is contained within the Institute of Dental Implants & Periodontics and consists of a lecture/ training room fully equipped with data projector, screen, PC, multiple laptop inputs, surround sound, VCR, wireless internet all of which are controlled from a central touch screen controller. The facility also has a dedicated surgery equipped with high resolution robotic camera which has a audiovisual link to the training room so that participants can watch procedures live, listen to running commentary from the presenter and also interact by asking questions during the demonstration. This unique set-up provides an excellen t education tool for clearly demonstrating clinical techniques in real-time and in an interactive format.
The ACTC can be hired on a sessional basis by individuals or by corporates. It has been developed to cater for 8-16 participants at a time thereby providing for a more intensive, one-on-one instruction and hands-on instruction.
