As recent and new graduates the world of implant dentistry
can often be daunting, with little to no formal education during your dental
training. However, with the changing face of dentistry this is a treatment
modality that will no doubt play a major role in your future professional
lives. Many of you will go on to restore implants, some of you may place
implants and some of you may even undertake further training to become a
specialist implant dentist. As we all move forward within this realm of
dentistry collegiality and a shared understanding of the fundamental principles
will ensure safe practice with predictable long-term outcomes.
The aim of these evening seminars is to strip back the glitz
and glamour of implant dentistry and provide the young professional with a
basic understanding of this as a treatment modality.
The first evening seminar will cover implant patient case
selection, timing of implant placement and the stages of implant therapy. We
will discuss the referral process and the additional requirements for the ACC
patient, to ensure you have a fundamental understanding to incorporate this
into your everyday private practice.
The second evening will involve how to design a functional
and aesthetically pleasing implant restoration which allows the patient
adequate cleansibility. This evening will also discuss implant complications
that can arise including peri-implant disease and the concept of peri-implant
maintenance to ensure the long-term health of the implant and surrounding
tissues.
