Course Overview:
This one-day course (lecture & hands-on demo) will provide an overview of the etiology and risk factors associated with periodontal disease including implant-related disease, provide an explanation of periodontal disease progression, provide an overview of current treatment modalities using latest technologies. The course will include a summary of current literature highlighting various techniques and tools (GBR, GTR & laser) in management of periodontitis/ periimplantitis. The course will include live demonstrations undertaken on pig jaws.
Course Objectives:
• Understand how to correctly diagnose and classify various stages of periodontitis & peri-implantitis • Learn treatment options of chronic periodontal disease using both conventional methods and laser to arrest disease progression & improve periodontal health • Gain insight into when advanced treatment with lasers and regenerative surgery need to be considered in addition to or in conjunction with conventional treatments • How to present treatment plans to patient and educate and motivate them in relation to periodontal and implant therapy and enhance patient acceptance.
Hands-on Demonstration:
• Learn how erbium laser meet criteria needed for periodontal regeneration • Review step-by-step laser protocols for treatment of chronic periodontal disease • Gain an understanding on REPAIR Perio and REPAIR implant protocols developed to provide advanced treatment option to assist in the management of periodontitis and peri-implantitis
